VISIT TO VAIDEHI ASHRAM BY VMYF MEMBERS

ON 10TH OCT' 2010 VMYF GIRL VOLUNTEERS VISITED THE VAIDEHI ASHRAM RUN FOR THE ORPHAN GIRLS IN HYDERABAD.IT WAS A REALLY HUMBLING EXPERIENCE TO MOST OF THEM. IN THEIR OWN WORDS: -
" Today we had a chance to visit an orphanage--  ‘VIDEHI ASHRAM’ at Saidabad. A team of 11 members visited it and all of us were astonished by the children's discipline. There are around 100 orphan girls within the age group of 4 years to 15 years and elderly girls are transferred to other wing of the same group. The students are very sharp and talented. They are also good at extracurricular activities like karate, music, dance and many other activities. But the students are poor in English and Hindi. Such sharp students’ lagging in areas like these is a matter to think about. We can help them by volunteering to teach them the subjects. The way values are inculcated in the students is appreciable and we too need to learn from them. Every small matter is considered for their growth and development. "

" There’s also another work done by the orphanage which involves training students on different aspects like moral values, school and college studies, knowledge about earning a livelihood, fitness and health issues  etc,. These students in turn train children from different slums. This is done on a regular basis. Each trainer is required to teach at least 20 children. This way they are trying to provide some scope to the children in slums."
" In total it was a wonderful experience for everyone who visited and we look forward for such activities to be taken up by us and get involvement from all our members."
